Project Snapshot
The Fourth LHCP in the App, and Its First in Asia
The Large Hadron Collider Physics conference series began in 2013, when the "Physics at LHC" conference and the "Hadron Collider Physics Symposium" merged, and it has reviewed the state of collider physics every year since. Its thirteenth edition was hosted in Taipei in May 2025 — the first LHCP held in Asia among the editions HEPCon has served, after Bologna 2018, Belgrade 2023 and Boston 2024, and the edition before Paris 2026.
For attendees who had been to any of those, the app did not need installing. LHCP 2025 appeared in their events list next to the previous editions, with their favourites and settings intact.
328 Talks, Six Parallel Streams
The Taipei programme was a full LHCP week: 328 talks from 274 speakers in 76 sessions, with up to six sessions running in parallel in the afternoon blocks. Mornings opened with plenaries organised by topic — Higgs boson physics, heavy-ion physics, searches, electroweak, top and QCD physics — and the afternoons split into the parallel streams where the detailed Run-2 final results and the first Run-3 analyses were presented. A programme this shape is the reason the personal schedule exists: attendees marked their talks across the six streams and the app flagged the overlaps before the day started.
Slides in the Pocket
The Indico timetable carried the speakers' materials, and the app carried them too: 273 talk materials were attached to contributions over the week, readable on the phone during a session and afterwards, without a laptop and without the venue network.
Synced from Indico, Offline on Site
The programme lived in Indico and stayed there. HEPCon read the timetable, speakers, rooms and materials from it and kept reading as the schedule committee moved talks during the week; the LOC never maintained a second copy of the programme. On the attendee side the whole programme was cached on first open, so a room change or a late-added talk was a background update, and the timetable was there on the metro, in the lecture halls and in the coffee queue — the session called "Break with Local Delicacies" included.
Why a Series Belongs in One App
LHCP is an annual conference with a stable community, and that is what a per-event app throws away every year. Because the 2018, 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions live in the same HEPCon app, a speaker's page shows their talks across editions, a returning attendee starts from an installed app rather than a store search, and the 2026 edition in Paris was one more entry in the list rather than a new download.
The Challenge
- • Serve the complete 328-talk programme offline to attendees across the six parallel afternoon streams
- • Keep the programme synced from Indico without the LOC maintaining a second copy
- • Give returning LHCP attendees a zero-install start and speakers their cross-edition history
The Solution
HEPCon synced LHCP 2025 from its Indico timetable — sessions, talks, speakers, rooms and 273 attached materials — into the app that already carried the 2018, 2023 and 2024 editions. Attendees navigated 76 sessions and up to six parallel streams with personal schedules and overlap flags, full-programme search, and offline access throughout the week in Taipei.
The Results
- 328 talks from 274 speakers in 76 sessions served, with up to six sessions in parallel
- 273 talk materials attached and readable offline
- Fourth LHCP edition in the same app, followed by Paris 2026
