- CHEP 2019 conference app — sponsor analytics and mobile access for 550 attendees in Adelaide
Project Snapshot
CHEP 2019 — the 24th International Conference on Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics — was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Australia, from 4 to 8 November 2019. Approximately 550 participants from over 30 countries gathered to discuss topics spanning data management at exabyte scale, machine learning pipelines, cloud-native workflows, and software modernisation for the High-Luminosity LHC era.
The programme included 480 oral contributions and 190 posters across 12 tracks, with parallel sessions running throughout the week.
The Challenge: Sponsor Visibility in a Technical Programme
CHEP conferences attract sponsorship from technology vendors, cloud providers, and research infrastructure organisations. Sponsors need measurable exposure, not just a logo on a website. At the same time, a computing-savvy audience expects a professional, ad-free agenda experience.
The organisers needed a solution that could deliver sponsor visibility without cluttering the scientific programme, while also providing real data on impressions and click-through rates.
How HEPCon Helped
HEPCon imported the CHEP 2019 Indico timetable and presented it through a progressive web app with track filters and full-text search. Sponsor banners were placed at natural break points in the agenda — between sessions, not inside talk listings — keeping the scientific content clean while giving sponsors prominent, measurable placements.
An analytics dashboard tracked banner impressions, click-through rates, and session-level engagement, giving both organisers and sponsors concrete ROI data.
Outcome
Sponsors received detailed engagement reports after the conference, reinforcing their investment. Attendees benefited from fast, filterable access to a large programme, and the organisers avoided the overhead of managing a separate mobile app.
The Challenge
- • Provide mobile agenda access for an international audience across time zones
- • Deliver measurable sponsor visibility with analytics
- • Keep session navigation fast across 12 parallel tracks
The Solution
Indico timetable import, progressive web app with track filters and search, sponsor banners at session boundaries with impression and CTR tracking, analytics dashboard for organisers and sponsors.
The Results
- Sponsors received detailed post-event engagement reports
- Attendees accessed the full programme through a fast PWA
- Organisers avoided the overhead of managing a separate mobile app
